Stop the summer slide!
A recent study of children in 3rd to 5th grades showed that students lost on average about 20 percent of their school-year gains in reading during the summer break.
Younger children are prone to the most learning loss because they’re at a crucial stage in their development. “In general, kids learn a lot more in kindergarten, first grade, and second grade than kids in middle school or high school, because learning follows a curve where it’s accelerated early in life and then plateaus,” says James Kim, Ed.D., an Assistant Professor of Education at Harvard University. “Things like decoding, letter knowledge, and word reading skills are very susceptible to decay without frequent practice, as are math facts like addition and subtraction.”
Our Literacy Holiday Program aims to maintain and develop literacy skills through the summery holidays, and ‘stop the summer slide’.

Please note: For Group Therapy sessions, we try to match children of similar ages and hence, all bookings are subject to confirmation via email
Age guidelines as follows:
- Literacy groups: 5-7 and 7-10
- School readiness: year before school 4.5-6 years
- Lego Club: 6-11 but matched by age and needs
Program Goals
Our summer literacy groups target a range of literacy skills, including:
● Phonics knowledge
● Key phonemic awareness skills
● Ready accuracy
● Orthographic mapping
● Fluency
● Comprehension
● Spelling
● Written expression
Groups will aim to match your child with peers at a similar level and build the above skills in a highly motivating, fun environment, including games and activities such as Nerf challenges, Floor is lava, Lego skills, Basketball and sand bag competitions, Trivia games, Spelling soccer, Sink n sand, Escape Rooms and loads more!
Course Structure and Duration
The Literacy Holiday Program runs during the School Holidays, and is available in either a 3 day format or a 4 day format. In the 3-day format, the program runs for 2 hours a day for 3 consecutive days. In the 4-day format, the program runs for 2 hours a day for 4 consecutive days.
All programs are held in our new, purpose built clinic in Gordon

Our therapists will provide an epic collection of toys, clinical resources and activities to support group therapy.
We believe therapy should be as fun as it is effective, so think Nerf guns, Sink n Sand and Escape Rooms!
